Nick Vigarino Nick is one of the most dynamic performers around. He calls his music "slop-jar delta funk blues." Nick was named by
the Washington Blues Society as best Slide Guitar, Blues Man of the Year,
Entertainer of the Year, and recently was added to their Blues Hall of
Fame. He has played with the likes of Bo Diddley, Long John Baldry, Lee
Oscar and Jimmie Vaughn. The "All Blues" program on local NPR affiliate
KPLU said this about Nick: "Slide guitar with the virility and passion of
Son House, combined with a jolt of addictive funk." For more, see

Marcia Kester Her voice tells the whole story: the heat, the honey and a bit of Delta
hardscrabble. A savory vocal texture that falls somewhere between Patsy
Cline and Bonnie Raitt and on towards the Shania Twain zone. Her
arrangements add a modern flavor to classic songs. There's a taste of rock
in the country tunes and a dash of country in the rock. For more information, visit

The Acoustic Detour
- Unplugged Take a detour with this metamorphic band of Camano Island musicians.
Join them on their ride through a variety of familiar and not so familiar
tunes. This is an unplugged incarnation of a band that has, in one form or
another, played at virtually every "music enabled" Art by the Bay. The
core band consists of Cathy Tibert on vocals, acoustic guitar, flute and
harmonica; Mark Bamber on lead guitar and vocals; and Paul Tibert on bass
guitar. |

Mark Bamber Local velvet-voice singer/guitarist Mark Bamber has been singing and playing the blues since he was a teenager, and that was quite a ways back. From playing and recording in Mexico City in the early ‘70s, to 15 years playing solo on a salmon troller in Alaska. For the past decade or so, Mark has been playing at events around Stanwood and Camano Island, singing the blues of Robert Johnson, Albert King, Magic Sam, Muddy Waters, Johnny Winter, John Lee Hooker and other blues greats. |

John Amber-Oliver John always puts on a great show, whoever he plays with. His bands The Splinters and The Stilly River Band have been playing in the area for decades. Last year, John showed up with Philip Nakano and Jim Bergquist, two of the regions busiest jazz musicians! Who knows what we'll see this year ... don't miss it! |

Chaim & The
Essentials Three summers ago, a group of musicians assembled in a basement on
Camano Island to record a group of original songs by Chaim, a guitarist
for the South End String Band. Since then, some of the musicians were
borrowed from other bands, some have moved on or passed on, and so Chaim &
the Eclectics became Chaim & the Essentials, all committed to the music.
The repertoire now includes over 30 songs, all original, with influences
ranging from folk to jazz to world. |

Don is a native son of Stanwood who now resides on Camano
Island. He started performing in the area in 1972 and went on to play with
the Country Rock Band “Whiskey” through out the Mid-West and Canada. His
original material has it’s roots in Country, Rock and Folk. His repertoire
also spans a wide variety of artists including Crosby , Stills, Nash and
Young, James Taylor, Loggins and Messina, John Mellencamp and the Eagles.
His wife Diana lends her harmonies to the mix for a truly enjoyable
acoustic music experience. They currently perform on the first Friday of
each month at Leatherheads Pub in Stanwood. |

Shay has been involved in music since high school, and frequently plays
with his dad, Don (who is also playing on the Art by the Bay stage a
little earlier in the day) at local gigs. Shay has a great natural singing
voice, and his skills as a musician, singer and songwriter are revealing
themselves as he records his original songs. Shay will be joined by Ryan
and Matt Klein, in a band configuration they have tentatively named "Ready
to Run." |
Mark Dodge of Big Quack Records organizes
the concert series.
Patrick Donicht of The Audio Vortex provides live support and expertise.
